Most Sangiovese wines tend to be a big and very tannic, but Grifone Sangiovese has all of the big flavor without the high tannins. It has an intense raspberry and cherry flavor with a floral, balsamic, and spice flavors, and has a long satisfying finish. Grifone Sangiovese is easy to drink whether as an aperitif or with a big meal.

Ocarossa Cuvee Rosso

Trader Joe's Ocarossa Cuvee Rosso from Italy. This is a soft dry medium bodied red wine with cherry notes. It's not made with Sangiovese grapse but is made with Ciliegiolo (Chee-leh-jolo) grapes, known in the wine world as either a parent grape to Sangiovese, or one of its offspring. Because it's related I'm putting this wine here 🙂

It has adapted well to Sierra Foothill soils, and it has fruity aromas and flavors, with hints of tea, spice, leather and mint. This wine pairs well with with antipasti, pasta dishes and pizza.
